 SCHEDULE OF WATER FEES AND CHARGES EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2022


The New Shoreham Sewer and Water Commissions have adopted a rate structure that accounts   for variable costs and fixed costs associated with the operational, safety and plant needs.    


USER FEES


 Variable costs will be recovered by user fees based on monthly flow and include such costs such as electricity,  fuel oil, chemicals, and other materials.  Rates for user fees change quarterly. 

 

Water User Fee Charge per 1,000 Gallons:


 

January – April: $17.20

 

May: $21.50

 

June: $27.95

 

July-August: $38.70

 

September: $27.95

 

October: $21.50

 

November-December: $17.20


RI Water Resource Board $0.0292 per 100 gallons
RI sales tax on commercial accounts only: 7%


 CUSTOMER INFRASTRUCTURE TAX


The monthly customer charge is for the purpose of recovering costs associated with the
facilities’ fixed cost on capital infrastructure (i.e. pump stations, transmission lines, treatment plant mechanics, etc.). The debt service payments are the loan obligations on the capital projects financed through the USDA. These fixed costs are incurred whether or not any water/sewer is used by the consumer. 


High Impact 1:  $31.61/month


If the account has an annual usage of greater than or equal to 73,000 gallons and less than 65% of that use occurs June-Sept it is determined to be High Impact 1.


High Impact 2:  $78.83/month


If the account has an annual usage of greater than or equal to 73,000 gallons and greater than or equal to 65% of that use occurs June-Sept it is determined to be High Impact 2.


Low Impact 1: $18.86/month


If the account has an annual usage of less than 73,000 gallons and less than 65% of that use occurs June-Sept it is determined to be Low Impact 1.


Low Impact 2: $47.24/month


If the account has an annual usage of less than 73,000 gallons and greater than or equal to 65% of that use occurs June-Sept it is determined to be low impact 2.



ALLOCATION

Over Usage Penalty Charge: July – September only, $55.00/1,000 gallons over account allocation.


  •  Water Allocation: $18.48 per gallon per day, paid in advance. Updated each year in October. All new water allocation must be approved by the New Shoreham Water Commission.
  • Sprinkler Service: $1,683.72 per year
  • Fire Flow Test: $150.00 per occurrence, must receive Permit from Water Superintendent
  • Hydrants: $1,200.00 per year



OTHER WATER CHARGES

  •  Seasonal meter:  $50.00 per on site visit, turn on/off service and install/remove meter 
  • Backflow Device Test: $80.00 per test
  • Meter Testing/Reading: $35.00 per on site visit
  • Frozen Meter: $50.00 per event plus cost of meter and parts
  • New Account: $35.00 per connection plus cost of parts; we supervise installation
  • Permit Fee: $35.00
  • Inspection Fee: $75.00 for domestic service/$2.50 per foot for fire service
  • Tapping fees (Water):1” is $800 2” is $1,200 plus materials and excavation costs
  •  Level II Assessment:  $150.00 per hour
  • Property Transfer Meter Reading: $100 per meter reading
  • Engineering Review: Determined by engineer's invoice



 


Accounts are payable by the end of the month in which the bill is received.
Interest – 18% per annum, charged 1.5% monthly on accounts unpaid by end of month.
